Changes to classification of club records

Posted on

The committee have agreed a few minor changes to the way records are presented, as recommended by the Club Statistician.

The official list of state records is unchanged except that we have added the 1000m.

Currently there is a  list of “non championship event state records” and this will now be split into two lists. The first is the obsolete records. The second is for the remainder which will now be called State Bests, not records. So we will only have “records” where courses are certified and walks are judged. Certificates will not be given for new State Bests.

If members think they may have broken a State Best they should inform the Statistician.

The records and bests are updated on the website every April, so as to include performances in the State and National Track and Field Championships.

Anyone referring to new records should always use the word “pending” until they know for certain that the record has been ratified.

Parts 4 and 5 of Joan Pellier’s fascinating history of the club are now on the website. Go to Historical Publications on the Archives tab.

And so its finally done – Joan Pellier has finished her story of thirty years in the club.  It shows what an amazing journey we have all had over the years and how, with our new and younger members to continue our aims and objectives, the club is in good hands for the future.

Transition to Winter T & F Programme

The following arrangements will be put in place:

ECAC

There will no meeting on 28th March. On 4th April the track will be available for training from 6pm to 7pm. Winter programme will start on 11th April

WAAS

There will be no programme on 2nd April and the winter programme will start on 9th April.

During the winter at WAAS there will be no exclusive MAWA hour so we must vacate the track by 7:30pm. Therefore in order to complete our events, we will revert to a 6pm start.

Don’t forget that WAAS is not available on 12th March.

The Winter Programme will be on the website by late March.

Old T & F Results

Posted on

The Old T & F Results page under the Archives Tab has now been constructed. It contains a wide range of results, from MAWA events through to National and World Championships. There are also some archived club results from the 1970’s, for those with a historical interest.

This completes the work of re-constructing the website under the new platform. This project was started in June last year by Ernie Leseberg and continued by Hamish McLeod.

Comments or suggestions on website content are welcome through the ‘Contact MAWA’ button.
