MAWA acknowledges the traditional custodians throughout Western Australia and their continuing connection to the land, waters and community. We pay our respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures, and to Elders both past and present.

10km Track Handicap
Looking for a way to increase your chances for the Club Handicap Trophy? Well here it is!!
10 km on the track at The Ern Clark Athletic Centre in Cannington tomorrow, Tuesday 23 April at 6.30pm.
Another chance for Sunday morning runners to tackle the 25 laps without the fear of bicycles, dogs or scooters. It would help if you could let us know if you are going to give it a try – just email r.blurton@iinet.net.au

50th Birthday Sundowner
Our 50th Birthday will be celebrated with a Sundowner at East Fremantle Yacht Club from 4pm to 7pm Sunday 9 June 2024. Light finger foods will be served and a bar service will be available.
- Members, former members and partners of members $20 each plus booking fee (max 2 tickets per member / former member)
- Non-members $35 each plus booking fee

Vale Jan Braid
Not many of our newer members know of Jan and Bob Braid. Most of the long term members would. They had the Runners World shop in North Perth and many of the older member bought shoes and kit from them. They were very active in WA Marathon club events organisation. Bob is a Grade 1 course measurer who has trained a number of our members in course measurement.
Sadly Jan has not been well for some years and she passed away last week.
Her funeral is on Wednesday May 1 at 2.30 pm at Pinnaroo.

Road Running and Road Walking Championships
There are four different championships. To be eligible for an award all three events must be completed in each championship. The male and female member who has the quickest time per km for the three events is the winner.
The 10km event on 5 May is the first event in the Long Road Running Championship but is also a Masters State 10km Road Running Championship event and the Male and Female winner of this event will receive the John Tarrant or Dot Browne Trophy respectively. Place getters in each age group will also receive a medal in this event.

50th Anniversary Event
Our event on Sunday 21 April 2024 will mark 50 years since the first run by a small group of enthusiasts who would become known as the W.A Veterans Athletics Club.
We will mark the occasion with a commemorative photograph of all in attendance followed by an event for walkers and runners from just about the same spot as they started 50 years ago.
The event will be followed by a morning tea from about 9.00 am and then the cutting of the 50th birthday cake.
Come along and join in the celebration of this special occasion.
