2022 Handicap Trophy Update

This weekend’s event, the Mother’s Day run at Burswood, is the fifth event of the Handicap Trophy. With four events completed and four events to go, the 2022 Handicap Trophy is starting to take shape.

There was a starting field of potentially over 700 financial members back in October, there are now just 91 members who have completed at least 1 of the handicap runs and are still eligible to compete for the coveted trophy. The winner needs to complete at least five handicap events.

At the halfway stage, Rohan Thompson (#1781) cemented his place at the top of the leader board with an impressive win at the Track Handicap event, but as we all know, a fast time only makes your handicap harder next time.

It wasn’t just Rohan who ran well, all competitors on the night took advantage of the excellent running conditions, David Adams (#1226), Kim Thomas (#798) and Clare Wardle (#1255) all finished well up the placings to give Rohan more than a concerned look over his shoulder.

The rest of us are still massed in a pack, just a little further behind the leader board than before, and maybe still not ready to make our move, but one day, maybe not one day soon, but one day, we will be ready to pounce……

Even if you aren’t eligible for the trophy, I urge you to come down and compete as your finishing position can influence the final placings for all those still in the running.

See you all there
Tristan
